In Collaboration: Designer's Notes
The design direction for Jernih focuses on silhouette taken from women living near the river banks as they are doing their daily tasks, as well suiting inspired by corporate wear. These two aspect are juxtaposed to create a collection that balance out fluidity and a sense of femininity with rigidness and structure. Textiles are incorporated into the collection through a synthetic salt & dye process that signifies the current state of the Citarum river. Jernih strictly uses chiffon and cotton to show opposition in texture and transparency that resonates in our philosophy as well to show our consumers the aftermath of the river after it is exposed to toxic waste. By using a nude chiffon and pairing it with the blue cotton we want our audience to understand our concept that shows the fragility of nature and how it can easily be over-consumed by industrialism utilizing a toxic practice that harms our environment.
